BACKGROUND: Clint Barton

PERSONALITY:

One of the most important things to know about Clint is that there is more to him than meets the eye. He’s very intelligent and observant, two traits that did him well while climbing the ranks of shield. He was hand picked by director Fury because he saw that in Clint and he became one of Fury’s top and most trusted agents. He’s the first to understand that the tesseract is a doorway, and that there was something or someone on the other end. His intelligence and observation skills are what leads Loki to brainwashing him, pumping him for information about the Avengers who were even a team yet but whose skills Clint already had memorized inside and out.

He takes his job seriously and is dedicated to shield and then to the Avengers after the fall of shield. Even after retirement he came out when Steve called and said he needed him, even though it would take him away from his family. His loyalty to his friends and his family is one of his driving characteristics. Especially his family. After joining Steve during civil war he opts to take a plea deal and be put under house arrest just so he can get back to his family.

Even though he’s loyal and dedicated to his job he doesn’t just follow blindly. He takes in all the information he has and if he disagrees with his orders he will do what he thinks is right. Which is exactly what happened when he met Natasha. He was charged with taking her out, instead he saw something in her and he made a different call. He brought her into shield. Which started a friendship that spanned years.

He’s dedicated and driven and is exceptional when working on his own but he also blends seamlessly into a team or with a partner, knowing how to play off people’s strengths even if he’s just met them. He keeps his cool under pressure and even sometimes can thrive on the pressure. As seen in every battle with the Avengers he keeps a cool head, being able to call out locations and strategies to his teammates. When dealing with a flying city and robots in Ultron Clint keeps it together, going as far as giving Wanda a pep talk even when it’s clear that the situation is crazy and he has no idea what he’s doing. But he still gets up and fights because he’s an Avenger and that’s what he does.

He’s compassionate and always tries to do the right thing. Which is why in the aftermath of Loki’s brainwashing the first thing he wanted to know was how many people died because of him. In Ultron he’s safe on a ship that’s going to take him away from the city when he sees a little boy hiding in the market, he leaves the safety of the ship to scoop up the boy when he sees a rogue plane gunning for him. He turns to shield the boy from the gun fire even though that means it’s going to hit him and most liking kill him taking him away from his family. He is saved from that fate by Pietro, who sacrifices himself for Clint, but Clint has been prepared to do it. In Endgame he is prepared to sacrifice himself for the soul stone even if that means never seeing his family again, because he wants Natasha to live, he believes she deserves it more. Again his plan is thwarted and Natasha ends up sacrificing herself but he is devastated by that fact.

Despite his seriousness and dedication Clint is the first to crack a joke and come up with a snarky or sassy quip. He likes to keep things light hearted and funny when he can.

It would be remiss not to mention the side of Clint that seeks revenge. It’s seen briefly in Avengers when he says he would feel better if he put an arrow through Loki’s eye, and again when he uses a trick arrow to blow him off a Chitauri vehicle. But it’s a side that Clint keeps under wraps. That is, until everything is taken from him. When his entire family disappears in the snap something in Clint breaks. He can’t move past the grief of losing his loved ones and he can’t get passed the fact that they are gone when people who he thinks don’t deserve it, drug lords, gangster, people who hurt others for power and gain, are still in the world. This grief spirals into revenge and he takes it upon himself to become a vigilante. He can’t bring them back but he can take down people who hurt others, who he thinks aren’t worthy of surviving.

That is until Natasha shows up to give him hope, a way to get them back, to get everyone back. That’s when he stops. He’s still struggling with what he became, part regrets it, part doesn’t. But as soon as the Avengers need him he’s there, despite their fall out in the past they all come together again and it’s exactly what Clint needed. A family to rely on to get his family back.

POWERS/ABILITIES:

• Master Archer: Clint has trained himself to become a master archer specializing in the use of regular bows, longbows, compound bows, and crossbows with near-perfect accuracy. He is capable of firing multiple arrows at a single target in a few seconds, hitting multiple targets in a few quick strokes, and hit small targets in the greatest of distances.


• Expert Marksman: He possesses very keen eyesight, and his accuracy is virtually unerring; he has near-perfect precision with any aimed or thrown weapon. He can hurl objects with extreme speed and accuracy, both in direct aim and complicated rebounds/interactions. He was able to shoot down a Chitauri ship without even looking at it.


• Expert Acrobat: Clint possesses exceptional human strength, endurance, and stamina. He is athletic, with very good reflexes and agility. This, combined with training as an aerialist and acrobat, makes him capable of complex acrobatic maneuvers.


• Expert Fighter: Clint is an excellent combatant, having been trained in various styles. He was able to fight Natasha to a standstill although she eventually bested him in combat. He was capable of overthrowing many of the Chitauri soldiers, alongside the Black Widow, on the ground zero during the battle in New York with utilization of his recurve bow as well as his trick arrows.


• Expert Strategist: Clint has been trained in military tactics under the service of possible military branches before operating with S.H.I.E.L.D.

The range is situated within view of the beach but far enough away that a stray arrow or bullet or anything else being shot is very unlikely to cause anyone damage.

The range is set up to accommodate both firearms and bows. Targets range from traditional archery bullzeyes to, plates or bottles, or wooden stands.

A covered firing area is made from wood and can accommodate up to six shooters at a time. The targets range in various distances from the shooters.

Everything is customizable as far as weapons and targets and all targets can be moved to whatever specifications are required.

Anyone who is up for a greater challenge can find a box of floating moving targets (think Star Wars guys) that are programmed to stay in the target areas.
